Ghemere
Ghemere is a South African non-alcoholic ginger beer brand crafted from a traditional recipe, available as both concentrate and ready-to-drink formats for households and events nationwide.
Brand Story
Ghemere is a proudly South African ginger beer brand founded in 2017 by Mpho Mohaswa under Precious and Pearl Brands, born from a desire to preserve and commercialise a cherished family and cultural recipe.
Based in Midrand, Gauteng, Ghemere produces a non-alcoholic ginger beer that stays true to the nostalgic taste of traditional South African ginger beer enjoyed at weddings, parties, funerals and family gatherings.
The brand offers both concentrate and ready-to-drink formats in various sizes, including 1L, 2L, 5L bottles and 330ml cartons, making it convenient for home use and events.
Ghemere was created to turn a previously non-commercialised traditional product into a household brand while maintaining its authentic taste and cultural significance.
Why It Exists
Ghemere exists to preserve South Africa’s traditional ginger beer recipe and make it accessible to modern households while creating economic opportunities through reselling and job creation.
The brand was created to address the risk of losing traditional recipes and skills as fewer families brew ginger beer at home, ensuring that younger generations can still enjoy this cultural staple.
Through its reseller model and retail partnerships, Ghemere supports income generation, local entrepreneurship and the growth of South African agro-processing.
To preserve a traditional recipe and make it a household brand that celebrates South African heritage, tradition and culture through a high-quality, non-alcoholic ginger beer.
